Warren Community Garden – New Beginnings

Our Story

In early spring of 2024, a few friends decided they wanted to do something for their South Warren community. They wanted to build a space that would encourage people to come together and form bonds over something inarguably good and helpful.

In the search for a project to collaborate on, they came upon a wonderful place that for the last decade had improved the community it had been a part of. The place that would come to be their inspiration and a community outside their own was the Eastpointe Community Garden.

The Eastpointe Community Garden is a fantastic space that allows people of all walks an opportunity to put this hectic world on hold and reach in to connection. That connection can be to the earth, to the growing plants. To the food cycle that can often feel so detached. To creating infrastructure, and finding what it takes to make something new. Your connection can be with the people you collaborate with, in bringing a vision to life. And it can be with the people whose smiles you get to share, when you hand them a bag of fresh/free produce.

The Urban Seed Model

The model behind Eastpointe Community Garden and Urban Seed (the non-profit built to support them) is simple. People come together and build something. Then grow something. Then give those organic fruits and vegetables away, at no cost, to the surrounding community.

As the second garden in the Urban Seed family, the South Warren Community Garden seeks to build on the fantastic wealth of knowledge, wisdom and friendships the ECG has formed. We’re so thrilled at the chance to serve our South Warren community (woot woot), and bring something new to our side of the city.

Looking Forward

We look forward to hopefully seeing you at the garden one day. From the smallest seeds grow the greatest bonds. And we can’t wait to see what amazing things will flourish under the sun in South Warren.
