Media Removal Requests

Urban Seed shares photos and videos from garden events to promote our mission. If you appear in our content and would like it removed, this page explains what qualifies and how to submit a request.

Does my request qualify?

  • REligible for removal

All three of these must apply:

  • Posted within the last 12 months
  • You are the main subject of the photo or video
  • Your face is clearly visible
  • QNot eligible

Content will stay up when:

  • It was posted more than 12 months ago
  • You appear in the background or as part of a group
  • Your face is not clearly visible

Photos of minors: Content featuring a minor will be removed at the request of a parent or guardian, no matter when it was posted. Other circumstances can be described in the notes section of the form and will be reviewed by the board case by case.

How it works

1

Gather your items

For each photo or video, have the link, the date it was posted, and a screenshot ready.

2

Submit the form

Each submission can include up to 5 items. Submit again for additional items.

3

We review it

Board members check each item against the policy. Incomplete or inaccurate requests are not processed.

4

Content is removed

Within 30 days, or up to 60 days for requests over 25 items. Content is deleted, not edited.

Before you submit

Submitting a request permanently adds you to the Urban Seed media opt-out list. You will not be featured as the main subject of future Urban Seed photos or videos.

Who can submit a request

Any individual pictured in Urban Seed content, or a parent or guardian of a minor pictured.

How to submit a request

Requests must be submitted using the Media Removal Request Form. A separate entry is required for each photo or video, and each entry must include:

  • A direct link to the post
  • A screenshot or upload of the photo or video
  • The date the content was posted

Urban Seed is run entirely by volunteers and volunteer board members and does not have staff available to search its archives. This information allows us to verify eligibility quickly.

Accuracy of submissions

Requests with missing, incomplete, or inaccurate information (including incorrect post dates, or screenshots that do not match the linked content) will not be processed. A corrected request may be resubmitted.

What qualifies for removal

Content qualifies for removal when all of the following apply:

  • The content was posted within 12 months of the request date
  • The requester is the main subject of the photo or video
  • The requester’s face is clearly visible

Content where the requester appears in the background, as part of a group, or without a clearly visible face does not qualify. Content posted more than 12 months before the request date may not be removed. Urban Seed will not repost, share, or reuse that content in new promotional materials, and may remove it at the board’s discretion.

Minors

Content featuring a minor will be removed at the request of a parent or guardian, regardless of when it was posted.

Other circumstances

Requesters may describe any additional circumstances in the notes section of the form. The board will review these on a case-by-case basis and is not obligated to grant removal outside the criteria above.

How content is removed

Qualifying content will be deleted, not edited or reposted. Posts containing multiple photos may be removed in full.

Timeline

Qualifying requests will be completed within 30 days of receiving a complete and accurate form. Requests involving more than 25 items may take up to 60 days.

Permanent opt-out

Anyone who submits a removal request will be permanently added to the Urban Seed media opt-out list. Opted-out individuals will not be featured as the main subject of future Urban Seed photos or videos.

Other options

Individuals may also report content directly to the social media platform where it is posted, under that platform’s own policies.
